4th grade overview

4th  grade music is an exciting time in the elementary school music experience. As students move through the year it is my hope that students have gained an understanding of music as it relates to their individual interests as well as how it relates to cultures around the world and the human experience , improved critical listening and analytical skills, developed a sense of ensemble, and experienced the creative process. Learning to play the recorder is a part of 4th grade music as well.

Students who wish to participate in extra musical activities will be able to participate in choir.

Learning Activities Include:

  • Building strength in basic music vocabulary and musical concepts
  • Reading notes and rhythms on the treble clef staff.
  • Learning recorder basics and playing the notes B,A, and G in various folk songs.
  • Performing music from different times and places by singing, playing recorders, and contributing to percussion ensembles.
